What is Tipek (Ruminant)?

Tipek (Ruminant) is a functional bioactive peptide product used as a cattle and sheep feed additive. Its core active ingredient is recombinant Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), gene-engineered and produced via precision yeast fermentation — no animal-derived inputs, consistent biological activity, and no drug residue concerns.

The gastrointestinal tract is the largest mucosal immune organ in ruminants, serving as both the site of nutrient absorption and the first line of immune defense. EGF receptors (EGFR) are expressed throughout the ruminant gastrointestinal epithelium — from the rumen mucosa to the small intestine — and are activated by EGF to regulate epithelial cell proliferation, differentiation, and repair. Ruminants face gastrointestinal health challenges at every life stage: calves at weaning, beef cattle during intensification, and dairy cows in the periparturient period. Tipek directly addresses mucosal damage at the cellular level to restore absorptive function and support consistent production performance.

How Does Tipek (Ruminant) Work?

Recombinant EGF binds to EGFR on gastrointestinal epithelial cells, triggering autophosphorylation and activation of Ras/MAPK, PI3K/AKT, PLC-γ/PKC, and STATS signaling pathways — driving four measurable outcomes:

Promote Gastrointestinal Development

Directly regulates epithelial cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration throughout the gastrointestinal tract. Promotes intestinal tissue maturation and rumen mucosal development in calves. Supports longer intestinal length and higher villus density for greater absorptive
capacity.

Repair Mucosal Injury

Rapidly repairs gastrointestinal mucosal damage caused by pathogens, mycotoxins, transport stress, or feed transitions. Restores tight junction integrity to prevent leaky gut and secondary infection. EGF-mediated mucosal restitution is particularly effective following weaning stress, when the calf gastrointestinal tract adapts from liquid to solid feed and mucosal damage is common.

Strengthen Mucosal Immune Defense

Enhances structural integrity of the gastrointestinal mucosa. Reduces pathogenic microbial colonization and invasion. Strengthens mucosal immune function and non-specific immunity. Supports healthy rumen microbial diversity by maintaining mucosal barrier function.

Improve Feed Conversion

Promotes digestive enzyme secretion and nutrient transport carrier expression. Improves digestion and absorption efficiency for energy, protein, and minerals. Directly contributes to improved average daily gain, lower FCR, and better feed intake consistency under variable conditions.

TIPEK FAQ

Q: How does Tipek work in ruminants given the complexity of the rumen?
A: EGF receptors (EGFR) are expressed throughout the ruminant gastrointestinal tract — including rumen mucosa, small intestine, and large intestine. The recombinant EGF in Tipek is acid- and protease-stable and can be delivered to the gastrointestinal epithelium where EGFR is abundantly expressed on both the apical and basolateral surfaces of villus enterocytes. The core EGFR signaling mechanism is highly conserved across mammalian species.

Q: At what age should calves start receiving Tipek?
A: Tipek can be introduced from birth. It is particularly valuable during the pre-weaning to post-weaning transition (0–8 weeks) when the calf gastrointestinal tract is adapting to solid feed and mucosal damage risk is highest. Early supplementation supports healthy rumen development and reduces diarrhea incidence during the most vulnerable period.

Q: Is Tipek safe for dairy cows — are there any milk residue concerns?
A: No residue concerns. Tipek is composed entirely of recombinant EGF peptide produced via yeast fermentation — no antibiotic components, no animal-derived inputs. The active peptide is metabolized as a normal dietary protein. Fully compatible with milk safety regulations in all markets.

Q: Can Tipek be used in organic or antibiotic-free ruminant programs?
A: Yes. Tipek is fully compatible with antibiotic-free (ABF) and reduced-antibiotic production programs. It contains no antibiotic components and its mechanism of action — EGFR-mediated cellular signaling — has no resistance implications.
